Where your audio goes

ChatGPT Meetings is a plugin in the ChatGPT Mac app. It captures your microphone and system audio. No bot joins the call.

The audio streams to OpenAI. After ChatGPT writes the notes, the audio is deleted, so you can't replay the meeting. Meetings can last up to four hours.

Transcripted also captures from your Mac with no bot. The audio stays on your Mac. You can replay it, or auto-delete it after 7 or 30 days. The transcript stays.

Notes you can reuse

ChatGPT Meetings gives you an AI summary plus action items. ChatGPT can act on those items in connected apps such as Gmail and Slack. Notes are saved in ChatGPT. Shared pages show the notes, not the transcript.

Transcripted saves a Markdown file you own. You can search it, open it in Obsidian, or point Claude, Codex, Cursor, or any other tool at the folder. Start with the folder prompt, then use MCP or the CLI when you need more access.

It splits speakers, and names carry over to later meetings. Parakeet V3 covers 25 European languages, with Whisper for others.

Where ChatGPT Meetings is better

ChatGPT Meetings wins if you already live in ChatGPT and want notes ChatGPT can act on. Connected apps, shared pages for a team, Google and Outlook calendar plugins, and call detection are real advantages. It is built into ChatGPT, so there is no separate note app to run.

If you want the audio to stay on your Mac, and notes that work with any AI, Transcripted is the better fit.

FAQ

Is Transcripted a good ChatGPT Meetings alternative?

Yes, if you want meeting notes without sending audio to OpenAI. Transcripted transcribes on your Mac, lets you replay the recording, and saves Markdown files you can use with Claude, Codex, Cursor, or any other tool.

Does ChatGPT Meetings send a bot into the call?

No. It captures microphone and system audio from your Mac, like Transcripted. Other people on the call are not notified. OpenAI says you are responsible for getting consent.

Can I replay a ChatGPT meeting?

No. OpenAI's Meetings plugin help article says the audio is deleted after notes are generated, so you can't replay it. Transcripted keeps the audio on your Mac. You can replay it, or auto-delete it after 7 or 30 days. Transcripts stay.

Does Transcripted work with ChatGPT and other AI tools?

Yes. Notes are plain Markdown files on your Mac. Use them with ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Cursor, or anything that can read a folder. Start with the folder prompt, then MCP on supported clients, or the CLI for scripts.

How much does ChatGPT Meetings cost?

It is a beta for ChatGPT Pro and Business on Mac, and is not on Plus. Pro tiers are $100, $200, or $500 a month. Business is $20 per seat a month billed yearly, or $25 monthly, with a two-seat minimum. Transcripted is free, MIT licensed, and needs no account.
