Why local processing matters

Rewind is a useful tool if you want to record everything constantly. But its core architecture — cloud AI processing — creates a trust dependency you can't opt out of. Every conversation you have, every meeting you attend, goes through Rewind's servers. That includes sensitive discussions: compensation reviews, client strategy, product roadmaps, hiring decisions.

With Transcripted, audio is processed on your Mac using Apple's Neural Engine. The files Transcripted creates live in ~/Documents/Transcripted/. They never touch a server. You can read them, move them, delete them, sync them wherever you want — and no one else can.

That's not a feature. It's an architectural guarantee.

The constant recording problem

Rewind records everything constantly. That's a privacy nightmare. Every conversation, every meeting, every voice memo — it's all being recorded and sent to the cloud. Transcripted only processes audio when you explicitly record a meeting. You're in control.

Where Rewind is better

To be honest: Rewind records everything constantly. If you want to capture every conversation automatically, Rewind does that today.

Rewind also has a polished, consumer-facing UI and a more established product. If you're not technical and want everything in one place without thinking about files, Rewind works.
