Where your voice goes
Wispr Flow's own security page says it processes dictated audio in the cloud, and stores customer data in the United States. That's how it works, not a bug. For a lot of people it's fine.
But if you dictate client details, health notes, or anything under an NDA, you may not be allowed to send it to someone else's servers. Transcripted turns speech into text on your Mac. Your audio and text never leave it.
Your dictations become notes you keep
Transcripted saves every dictation as a plain Markdown file in a folder on your Mac. You can search them, open them in Obsidian, or point Claude or another AI tool at the folder later.
The same app also records meetings without a bot and transcribes audio files. So your dictations and meetings end up in one place.
Where Wispr Flow is better
Wispr Flow runs on Windows, iPhone, and Android. Transcripted is Mac only, and needs an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 26 or later.
